Get a grasp on your nutrition priorities.
Not all nutrition is equal!
People come in two camps – They either like to nitpick and micromanage their nutrition or they’d rather not stress about it at all. Both camps have their arguments, but the point is that if you want to look, feel, and perform at a high level then you have to at least have the basics of nutrition nailed down. If you’re not giving your body the right fuel it needs then it can’t deliver on the demands you place on it.
The truth is, nutrition can be as complicated as you want to make it. At its base level, though, eating right for optimal performance isn’t that complex. You just need to have an understanding of what you need and that will help you organize your nutrition priorities.
So what are the nutrition priorities?
Is there a hierarchy?
There is.
In this podcast I go through each stage of nutrition, covering the base first and moving into the extras. If you don’t have the basic layers of the pyramid covered: Eating the right amount of food and the right basic macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fats) then it really doesn’t matter how high quality your food is, when you eat it, or what magical supplements you take.
Yes, it’s important to eat good food and take in the vitamins and minerals you need. However, if you’re operating from a basic deficiency or overload, those won’t move the needle. On the other hand, once you get the foundation down, then you’ll realize more benefit from those extras.
After listening to this episode, you’ll leave with a simple list of nutrition priorities so you know where your gaps are and what to address first when it comes to getting your performance nutrition squared away.
