How often do you find yourself intimidated by your big goals? Or, more specifically, the journey toward them?
It’s easy and fun to set big goals. We do it all the time.
However, how often do most people accomplish those goals? Almost never.
Why?
There are lots of little reasons, but the big, fundamental one is that once they get going they are get intimidated by the journey. Not because of a lack of courage. I’m sure that’s not your reason, just like it isn’t for most people. There’s something else behind the scenes…
It’s hard-wiring in the brain.
Your brain is the ultimate miser when it comes to spending energy. It’s goal is to keep you as full of energy and safe as possible. When we look out over a long, dark, unclear journey to it says “Woah, buddy. I don’t know if we have the energy for that” and stalls you.
So, how to hijack that defense mechanism and keep moving on the path? I dig into it in today’s quick, under 10:00 podcast.
I’ll get into:
- The why of your brain’s self-defense mechanism that takes you away from big achievement.
- How to compare your progress to a movie in order to get a “short-cut” to a critical scene.
- The “dress-rehearsal” technique that makes your end goal more comfortable and expected… and thus easier to wrap your head around.
